Rolle rückwärts? Microsoft plant eventuell Wiedereinstieg in den Smartphone-Markt

Was genau hat Microsoft vor? Nachdem man im Mai bekanntgab, dass man sich aus dem Smartphone-Markt zurückziehen würde, da die Verkaufszahlen seiner auf der Nokia-Übernahme basierenden Windows-Phones gen Null tendierten, schürt CEO Satya Nadella nun Gerüchte, wonach man Anfang 2017 einen Neuanfang unter der Surface-Marke wagen könnte. Gegenüber den Kollegen von Australian Financial Review gab Nadella zu Protokoll, dass man verstärkt daran forsche, wie man auch weiterhin am wichtigen Smartphone-Markt präsent sein könnte. Dabei sei man der Meinung, dass man nicht den aktuellen Trends folgen, sondern neue Wege gehen sollte. Daher arbeite man derzeit am "ultimate mobile device". Der Fokus liege dabei weniger auf dem Gerät selbst, als mehr auf der Art und Weise, wie Menschen und Unternehmen diese Geräte einsetzen.

Gerüchte um ein Surface-Phone kursieren bereits seit einiger Zeit. Während einige Beobachter hierauf eine Variante von Windows 10 Mobile erwarten, gehen andere davon aus, dass sich Microsoft vor allem auf die Hardware konzentrieren und dabei eine Art Tastatur-Flip-Case entwickeln könnte, welches ein Stück weit einen Weg zurück zur Philosophie von Blackberry-Geräten bedeuten könnte. Ein Indikatpr könnte zudem das HP Elite x3 sein, welches halb Mini-PC, halb Smartphone ist.

In einen Markt zu dr\344ngen, der so gut wie nicht vorhanden (siehe Blackberry) und bereits voll ges\344ttigt ist (mit Blackberry) macht nat\374rlich absolut Sinn.
Wahrscheinlich sitzen schon tausende Entwickler auf hei\337en Kohlen, um endlich wieder f\374r ein OS mit unter zehn Prozent Marktanteil und ungewisser Zukunft entwickeln zu d\374rfen.

Sieh es mir nach, dass ich es Microsoft nicht gerade zutraue, einen Massenmarkt zu \374bernehmen - insbesondere, wenn eben einfach kein Markt mehr da ist. Das ist wie bei der sozialen Netzwerken: Solange Facebook nicht komplett versinkt (und danach sieht es nicht aus) kann Google machen, was sie wollen - aber niemand interessiert sich f\374r GooglePlus ;)

Na und? Vor Facebook gab es MySpace und etliche kleinere soziale Netzwerke (die \374brigens weitaus mehr Kreativit\344t der User zulie\337en, aber halt nicht von Wirtschaftsunternehmen verseucht waren). Der Markt war damals auch "ges\344ttigt".

Ist halt so - wenn einige auf was anderes umsteigen, folgen andere nach. Und wenn das Produkt (smartphone oder soziales Netzwerk, egal) keine bestimmte Zielgruppe hat, ists halt ein Gl\374cksspiel, ob alle oder keine drauf einsteigen.

Warum alle auf das langweilige, inspirationslose, mit Werbung zugekleisterte Facebook gewechselt sind, wei\337 vermutlich niemand wirklich.

Hast du den Artikel gelesen, Matte? Es geht (spekulativ; zugegeben) um eine Business-Plattform a la Blackberry. Und speziell dieser Markt ist nunmal quasi nicht da.
Windows Phone war ein gutes OS mit neuen Ideen. An der Qualit\344t des OS hat es nicht gelegen, dass sie gescheitert sind. Es war einfach zu sp\344t. Und jetzt ist es eben noch zu sp\344ter. Und wenn sie es jetzt nochmal probieren, werden sie wieder scheitern, da bin ich mir sicher. Ich werde mir jedenfalls kein Windows Phone mehr holen, nur um zu hoffen, dass sie dieses Mal nicht aufgeben - w\344hrend ich mich mit dem l\344cherlichen App-Angebot zufrieden geben muss. Und da dies ein Henne-Ei-Problem vieler Interessenten ist, ist der Zug nunmal abgefahren.
