iOS 16.1 enthält "Satellite Connection Demo" für das iPhone 14 und iPhone 14 Pro

Als Apple die neue SOS-Funktion per Satellit für das iPhone 14 und iPhone 14 Pro ankündigte, erklärte man direkt, dass die Funktion erst ab dem November und dann auch zunächst ausschließlich in den USA und Kanada zur Verfügung stehen werde. Mit iOS 16.1, seit gestern Abend in der dritten Beta verfügbar, bereitet Apple den Start nun weiter vor. So wird das Update, welches wohl im kommenden Monat erscheinen wird, eine "Satellite Connection Demo" enthalten, mit der man keinen echten Notruf auslösen aber immerhin die Funktion schon einmal ausprobieren kann (via 9to5Mac). Unter anderem kann man sich auf diese Weise schon mal darauf vorbereiten, wie man das iPhone mithilfe der Displayanweisungen korrekt auf einen Satelliten ausrichtet, den Notrauf auslöst und anschließend mit der Notfallzentrale per Textnachricht kommuniziert. In den Codetiefen schreibt Apple:

Try Satellite Connection Demo. Learn how to connect to a satellite in an emergency. You can always go to Settings > Emergency SOS to try the demo.
