Nun hat es mit Tony Blevins auch einen hochrangigen Apple-Manager getroffen. Blevins war über viele Jahre Apples Vice President of Procurement und in dieser Rolle vor allem an Verhandlungen mit der Zuliefererkette des Untenehmens beteiligt, bei denen er als harter Hund galt. Unter anderem soll er auch den Deal mit Globalstar mit ausgehandelt haben, der zu der SOS-Satellitenkommunikation im iPhone 14 führte.

Nun wurde er von TikTok-Star Daniel Mac bei einer Auto-Show in einem teuren und seltenen Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren gesichtet und gemäß seiens TikTok-Konzepts gefragt: "What do you do for a living?" Blevins nach eigener Aussage humorvoll gemeinte Antwort:

"I have rich cars, play golf and fondle big-breasted women, but I take weekends and major holidays off. And also I have a hell of a dental plan."

Damit bezog sich Blevins offenbar auf den Film "Arthur" aus dem Jahr 1981 in dem die Hauptfigur Arthur Bach seine Karriere mit den Worten beschreibt: "I race cars, play tennis and fondle women, but I have weekends off and I am my own boss." In der heutigen Zeit kommen derartige Äußerungen jedoch anscheinend nicht mehr gut an. Wie Bloomberg berichtet haben interne Ermittlungen dazu geführt, dass sich die Wege von Apple und Blevins nun trennen. Der langjährige Manager entschuldigte sich inzwischen für seine Wortwahl:

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to anyone who was offended by my mistaken attempt at humor."

Für den Moment wird Apples COO Jeff Williams die Leitung von Blevins Team übernehmen. Wie es mit seiner Zahnvorsorge weitergeht, ist zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt unklar.
