Wie es aussieht, scheint Apple der Öse aber nicht nur eine modische Funktion zugedacht zu haben, sondern auch eine technische. So haben die Kollgen von Lumafield das Case mal unter den Röntgenapparat gelegt und dabei erstaunliches entdeckt.

So ist die metallische Öse interessanterweise nicht nur eine Öse, sondern intern mit dem Lightning-Anschluss verbunden, das wiederum natürlich auch eine Verbindung zum Logicboard der Ladehülle besitzt. Die Kollegen spekulieren daher, dass die Öse gleichzeitig auch als Antenne für den neu enthaltenen U1-Chip fungiert. Apple hat den Chip erstmals in dem Ladecase verbaut, um es so in das "Wo ist" Netzwerk integrieren und mithilfe eines iPhone leichter auffinden zu können. Der ebenfalls neu eingebaute Lautsprecher kann hierzu auf Wunsch dann auch einen Sound ausgeben.
