Apple veröffentlicht iOS 6.1.4 für iPhone 5

Ein wenig unerwartet hat Apple am heutigen Abend ein Update auf iOS 6.1.4 (Buildnummer 10B350) veröffentlicht. Enthalten sind laut Releasenotes weder Fehlerkorrekturen, noch neue Funktionen. Stattdessen wurde das Audio-Profil für die Sound-Ausgabe über die integrierten Lautsprecher oder eine Freisprecheinrichtung aktualisiert, ohne dass Apple weitere Angaben zu den genauen Inhalten dieses Profils macht. Das Update steht ausschließlich für das iPhone 5 bereit. Zwar verweist Apple im zugehörigen Support-Dokument auf seine Webseite zu Sicherheitsaktualisierungen, dort ist von iOS 6.1.4 bislang allerdings noch nichts zu lesen. Weiterhin empfiehlt sich das Update wie auch schon iOS 6.1.3 nicht für Jailbreaker, da die dafür genutzten Sicherheitslücken bereits von Apple geschlossen wurden. Das Update kann über die Aktualisierungsfunktion in iTunes oder OTA (Over the air) direkt auf dem iPhone geladen werden. Abschließend wie gewohnt noch der Direktlink auf den Apple-Servern: iPhone 5

Ich habe das iPhone vor der Aktualisierung einmal getestet.
Freisprechanlage und iPod. ( gute Bose in Ear wurden verwendet )
Freisprechanlage funktioniert deutlicher, klarer.
Der Sound über die Kopfhörer wurde deutlich besser.
Wer noch nicht auf 6.1.4 aktualisiert hat sollte den vorher, nachher Vergleich ausprobieren.

Was ich sagen wollte: finde es Komisch, dass ein ca. 12MB Update OTA nicht übers Mobilfunknetz kommt sondern nur mit WLAN zu Laden ist. Wurde nicht mal beim Magenta T zum Beispiel) beworben, dass OTA OS Updates nicht auf das Datenvolumen angerechnet würden?

Sowas würde die Telekom meiden wie der Teufel das Weihwasser. Die Telekom will Geld verdienen und Zusatzpakete für Datenhighspeed verkaufen. Deshalb werden grundsätzlich alle Updates auch auf das Volumen angerechnet.
Es sei denn Apple zahlt der Telekom ein paar Millionen, dann würde die Telekom das aus dem Kontingent herauslassen....

Grundsätzlich glaube ich eher nicht, dass das geschilderte Problem mit dem Update zusammenhängt. Allerdings ist natürlich nicht klar, was Apple alles sonst noch an Details geändert haben könnte. Ich würde mich mit dem Fehler an den Apple Support wenden.

Ich weiß gar nicht ob ich überhaupt noch Spaß an weiteren Updates habe. Meine Enttäuschung über das iphone 5 ist mittlerweile riesengroß. Der Schritt von der 4er auf die 5er Generation war für mich ein gewaltiger Rückschritt. Zunächst wirkt das Gerät nach meinem Empfinden wesentlich weniger wertig als die 4er Baureihe. Die Materialanmutung von Alu kommt nicht gegen Glas und Edelstahl an. Das 5er wirkt spielzeugmäßig, zu leicht und irgendwie fasst es sich nicht so schön an, man hat das Gefühl fast Plastik in der Hand zu haben. Softwaredisaster wie Youtube oder Google Maps Entfernung stören mich hingegen weniger, ich kann es aus Apple Sicht verstehen.
Was aber gar nicht geht ist die mittlerweile miserabe Qualität bei der Nutzung als Mobiltelefon. Vielleicht ist das auch zu viel erwartet und mittlerweile telefoniert man mit dem Iphone nicht mehr. Ich kann mich aber nicht erinnern in den letzten zehn Jahren ein funktechnisch so schlechtes Telefo wie das Iphone 5 besessen zu haben. Verbindungsabbrüche sind keine Ausnahme sondern sehr häufig, auch das Erscheinen von "Kein Netz"lerne ich nun wieder kennen. Auf Autobahnabschnitten wo ich zuvor mit dem 4er Iphone ohne Probene telefonieren konnte ist nun kein Empfang mehr möglich. Die Sprachqualität ist häufig sehr bescheiden, Anrufe über die Freisprecheinrichtung im Auto aus der Mobilbox heraus zu tätigen scheitert regelmäßig. Kollegen und Mitarbeiter von mir haben ähnliche Erfahrungen bzgl. der Funkanbindung mit dem 5er Iphone gesammelt.
Was für eine beschämende Qualität. Das einzige was mich vom Wechsel abhält ist die Tatsache daß die Android Plastikbomber zumindes optisch trotz allem noch nicht mithalten können. Zumindest wird man mit denen aber telefonieren können.
Oder hat jemand von euch einen Tipp für ein haptisch angenehmes und hochwertiges Smartphone für mich?
