iFixit zerlegt das iPhone 14 Pro Max

Nachdem die Reparaturspezialisten von iFixit bereits den Teardown des Standard-Modells des iPhone 14 veröffentlicht hatte, steht inzwischen auch ihr traditioneller Blick in das Innere des iPhone 14 Pro Max zur Verfügung. Erstaunlicherweise hat Apple auf viele der reparaturfreundlichen Veränderungen, die die Kollegen beim iPhone 14 ausdrücklich gelobt haben, bei den beiden Pro-Modellen verzichtet. Ließ sich beispielsweise das iPhone 14 über die rückseitige Glasplatte durch das Lösen von lediglich zwei Schrauben öffnen, ist dies bei den Pro-Modellen nicht der Fall: Das Glaspanel auf der Rückseite lässt sich nicht abnehmen.

Das Innenlben des iPhone 14 Pro Max unterscheidet sich nur unwesentlich von dem des direkten Vorgängers. In dem unten eingebetteten Teardownvideo zeigen die Kollegen von iFixit nicht nur das Logicboard, inkl. des A16 Bionic Chip und des Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-Chips, sondern auch den bei den US-Modellen entfallenen SIM-Kartenslot. In den USA verkauft Apple die iPhone 14 Modelle ausschließlich mit eSIM. Der dadurch frei gewordene Platz im Inneren des iPhone wird von Apple allerdings aktuell noch nicht weiter genutzt. Stattdessen befindet sich an der Stelle, an der früher der SIM-Kartenslot zu finden war, nun ein Platzhalter aus Kunststoff (siehe Bild oben). Dies ist nicht weiter verwunderlich, da Apple sicherlich nicht nur für die USA ein komplett neues Design des Innenlebens bauen lassen würde. Ab dem kommenden Jahr ist die Ausweitung der eSIMs und damit auch der Wegfall der Unterstützung von physischen SIM-Karten auch in weiteren Regionen der Welt zu erwarten.
