Tesla CEO Elon Musk möchte Twitter übernehmen und von der Börse nehmen

Paukenschlag im Silicon Valley! Nachdem Tesla CEO Elon Musk bereits Anfang des Monats eine erhebliche Menge Twitter-Aktien kaufte und damit mit 9% Anteilen zum größten Aktionär des Kurznachrichtendienstes wurde, will er nun offenbar das gesamte Unternehmen übernehmen. Ein Angebot in Höhe von 54,20 US-Dollar pro Aktie (insgesamt rund 41 Milliarden Dollar) liegt bereits auf dem Tisch von Twitter-Chairman Bret Taylor. Das Angebot wurde auch in einer entsprechenden Meldung an die US-Börsenaufsicht SEC publik gemacht. Darin erklärt Musk, dass er ein enormes Potenzial in Twitter sehe, welches er entfesseln wolle. In der aktuellen Form werde dieses Potenzial dem Visionär zufolge viel zu wenig genutzt. Musk schreibt dazu:

"As a result, I am offering to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced. My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder."

Die Twitter-Aktie schoss nach dem Bekanntwerden der Pläne um über 10% nach oben. Twitter bestätigte inzwischen in einem Statement den Eingang des Angebots von Musk und wird dieses nun unter Berücksichtigung der Unternehmensinteressen und auch der seiner Nutzer und Aktionäre bewerten.

Ob eine Übernahme durch Musk tatsächlich im Sinne der Mehrheit der Nutzer ist, muss zumindest angezweifelt werden. Während sein Ziel, wieder mehr Meinungsfreiheit auf Twitter herrschen zu lassen sicherlich begrüßenswert ist, würde er hiermit (bewusst und auch gewollt!) Verschwörungstheorien, Hass-Postings, polistischen Extremen, etc. Tür und Tor öffnen. Ein von Musk kritisiertes Vorgehen war beispielsweise das Deaktivieren des Twitter-Accounts von Donald Trump nach dem Sturm seiner Anhänger auf das Capitol. Um seinen Plan von "mehr Meinungsfreiheit" in die Tat umsetzen zu können, würde Musk Twitter von der Börse nehmen und als privates Unternehmen weiterbetreiben.
