Bereits vor einiger Zeit wurde bekannt, dass Twitter verschiedene kostenpflichtige Funktionen einführen wird. Eine dieser neuen Funktionen ist nun offiziell gestartet. Wie der Kurzmitteilungsdienst bekanntgab, können ab sofort sogenannte "Super Follows" eingerichtet werden. Mit der Funktion richtet sich Twitter vor allem an Journalisten und weitere Persönlichkeiten mit großer Follower-Gemeinde (mindestens 10.000), die damit Exklusivinhalte gegen Bezahlung auf Twitter anbieten können. Dabei haben sie die Wahl zwischen den Preisstufen 2,99, 4,99 oder 9,99 Dollar pro Monat. Von den Einnahmen können die Anbieter bis zu 97% behalten. Wird die Grenze von 50.000 Dollar überschritten, sind es noch 80%.

Zum Start stehen die "Super Follows" aktuell lediglich Nutzern in den USA und Kanada zur Verfügung. Twitter hat jedoch angekündigt, den internationalen Rollout in den kommenden Wochen voranzutreiben. Alle Details und Bedingungen hat Twitter auf einer entsprechenden Webseite zusammengetragen.
