Apple nimmt wohl erste Generation der AirPods Pro nach der Vorstellung des Nachfolgers vom Markt

Schon seit einiger Zeit halten sich Gerüchte, wonach Apple im Herbst nun endlich die zweite Generation der AirPods Pro auf den Markt bringen wird. Erwartet werden dabei als Neuerungen ein neues Design, weitere Sensoren zur Ermittlung und Überwachung von Gesundheits- und Fitness-Daten, sowie ein Nachfolge-Chip für den aktuell verbauten H1. Wie der bekannte Apple-Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo nun berichtet, wird Apple bei der Veröffentlichung der neuen AirPods Pro offenbar eine andere Strategie fahren, als man dies beim Upgrade der zweiten Generation der regulären AirPods auf die dritte Generation getan hat. Seinerzeit ließ man die zweite Generation mit einem deutlich reduzierten Preis auf dem Markt, was offenbar zu einer geringer als erwarteten Nachfrage nach dem Nachfolger führte. Laut Kuo fuhr Apple aus diesem Grund seine Produktionskapazitäten für die neueste AirPods-Generation um ein Drittel zurück.

Um eine ähnliche Situation bei der Vorstellung der AirPods Pro 2 zu vermeiden, wird Apple die erste Generation nach der Präsentation des Nachfolgers laut Kuo vom Markt nehmen. Hierdurch soll offenbar eine Kanibalisierung zu verhindert werden.
