Zugegeben, ein Stück weit lieben wir Apple auch für die dort gelebte Arroganz. Man wird in Cupertino nicht müde zu betonen, dass man es am besten wisse, was der Nutzer eigentlich haben möchte, wie Dinge zu funktionieren und vor allem auch auszusehen haben. Mit ebendieser Arroganz ist wohl auch die Beharrlichkeit zu erklären, mit der man sich immun gegenüber jeglicher Kritik an der im Jahre 2015 vorgestellten Magic Mouse 2 zeigt. Wer auch immer bei Apple die grandiose Idee hatte den Lightning-Ladeanschluss für den festverbauten Akku an der Unterseite des Geräts zu platzieren war zu diesem Zeitpunkt entweder komplett vollgedröhnt oder hat noch nie mit einer Maus gearbeitet.

Während man eigentlich alle anderen am Markt befindlichen Mäuse auch während des Ladevorgangs am Kabel weiterverwenden kann, muss man die Magic Mouse auf die Seite oder den Rücken legen und warten, bis der Akku wieder Saft hat. Apple beschwichtigt mit der Aussage, dass sie innerhalb kürzester Zeit wieder mit ausreichend Strom versorgt wäre, um weiterzuarbeiten. Ein klarer Fall also von "form over function", von der man in Cupertino aber nach wie vor überzeugt zu sein scheint.

Nachdem Apple auch im Zusammenhang mit der Präsentation des Mac Studio weiterhin keine neue Generation der Magic Mouse mit einer sinnvolleren Platzierung des Ladeanschlusses vorgestellt hat, scheint dies auch in näherer Zukunft nicht zu geschehen. Doch keine Sorge: Rettung naht! Die Bastler des YouTube-Kanals Unnecessary Inventions haben ihren 3D-Drucker angeworfen und eine Protese für die Magic Mouse 2 entworfen, mit der sie sich auch während des Ladens weiterhin nutzen lässt. Zumindest dann, wenn Apple dies unterstützen würde...
