iPadOS 15.4 und macOS Monterey 12.3 aktivieren erstmals "Universal Control"

Eigentlich bereits für iPadOS 15 und macOS Monterey im vergangenen Herbst angekündigt, fehlte von der neuen Funktion "Universal Control" (zu Deutsch: "Nahtlose Steuerung") bislang in den aktuellen Betriebssystemen jede Spur. Zuletzt hatte Apple Ende vergangenen Jahres bekanntgegeben, dass die Funktion erst im Frühjahr 2022 verfügbar sein wird. Dies kommuniziert man inzwischen auch auf den Webseiten zu iPadOS 15 und macOS Monterey. Zur Erinnerung: Universal Control gestattet es, mit nur einem Set aus Maus und Tastatur gleich mehrere Macs und/oder iPads zu bedienen, die über denselben iCloud-Account konfiguriert sind.

Nun scheint jedoch endlich die Zeit für "Universal Control" gekommen zu sein. Die heute Abend veröffentlichten ersten Betas von iPadOS 15.4 und macOS Monterey 12.3 jedenfalls enthalten die Unterstützung für die Funktion. Sie kann auf dem Mac in den Systemeinstellungen unter dem Punkt "Displays > Erweitert" und auf dem iPad? in den Einstellungen unter "Allgemein > AirPlay & Handoff" aktiviert werden, wo sich ein neuer Bereich "Cursor und Tastatur (Beta)" befindet.

Sidecar funktioniert bei mir problemlos. Nutze es t\344glich. Also generell davon zu sprechen, dass es nicjt funktioniert ist hier nicht zutreffend. Habe auch einige Kollegen, die es regelm\344ssig nutzen. Darunter ist nur einer, der immer wieder meckert, dass Sidecar oder auch Airdrop nicht vern\374nftig funktionieren. Allerdings hat er auch so immer wieder Probleme mit seinem Setup, weil er ein Bastler ist.

Airdrop funktioniert bei mir problemlos bei allen m\366glichen Konstellationen, au\337er beim iPhone meines Partners. Bei meinem XS ist Airdrop auch ein reines Glückspiel. Gefühlt funktioniert es in 30% der Fälle nicht und ich kann weder senden noch empfangen. Ein Neustart hilft aber meistens. Merkwürdigerweise funktioniert Airdrop auf dem XS meiner Freundin immer problemlos mit allen Geräten. Kann mir das auch nicht erklären und habe das Problem, seit dem ich dieses iPhone nutze.
