Chips für M3-Macs und das iPhone 15 sollen im 3nm Verfahren gefertigt werden

Der Blick in die Glaskugel gehört bei Apple beinahe so dazu, wie auch die Geheimniskrämerei, die man in Cupertino betreibt. Dennoch wird bereits jetzt über die übernächste Generation der Apple Silicon Chips für den Mac spekuliert. Wie die DigiTimes berichtet, hat Apples Chip-Produzent TSMC die Pilotphase zur Fertigung von Chips im 3nm Verfahren begonnen. In die Massenproduktion soll der taiwanesische Produktionspartner Apples dann im vierten Quartal 2022 einsteigen, was zu einer Auslieferung Anfang 2023 führen würde. Entsprechend wird bereits darüber spekuliert, dass als erste Geräte das iPhone 15 mit seinem A17 Chip und auch Apple Silicon Macs mit M3 Chips über einen 3nm Prozessor verfügen dürften. Wie gewohnt führt dieses Verfahren zu abermals verbesserten Leistungsmerkmalen bei geringerem Energiebedarf.

Bis dahin sollen dann M2-Macs und das iPhone 14 mit Prozessoren bestückt sein, die in einem verbesserten 5nm-Verfahren von TSMC gefertigt werden.
