Apple hat auf seiner chinesischeen Webseite (via 9to5Mac), bekanntgegeben, dass man dort den prestigeträchtigen Green Supply Chain CITI Outstanding Brand Award für seine Bemühungen um den Umweltschutz in China erhalten habe. Vor allem wird dabei gewürdigt, dass man mehr Verantwortung für den Umweltschutz durch seine komplette Zuliefererkette in Fernost hindurch durchgesetzt habe. its contributions towards making its entire supply chain more environmentally responsible. Ge Yue, Apples zuständiger Manager für China wird entsprechend erfreut mit den folgenden Worten zitiert:

"We always believe that to create the best products in the world, we must create the products that are most beneficial to the world. For this reason, we have been committed to promoting the development of smart and sustainable manufacturing. I am very grateful to Director Ma Jun and IPE for their cooperation with us. We believe that through our joint efforts, we will be able to achieve greater achievements in protecting the Earth and its important resources."

Unter anderem ist es Apple gelungen über 25 Milliarden Gallonen Wasser einzusparen und 76 Zulieferer dazu zu bewegen, komplett auf Basis erneuerbarer Energien zu produzieren.
