Apple veröffentlicht AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.8.1

Zwar hat Apple seine AirPort-Produkte im April vergangenen Jahres offiziell eingestellt, dies hindert das Unternehmen aber nicht daran, auch jetzt noch ab und an Softwareupdates für die WLAN-Peripherie zu veröffentlichen. So geschehen auch wieder in der vergangenen Nacht. Da hat Apple nämlich das AirPort Base Station Firmware Update auf Version 7.8.1 für die Airport Express, AirPort Extreme und AirPort Time Capsule veröffentlicht, welches wie immer über das AirPort-Dienstprogramm geladen und installiert werden kann. Laut Releasenotes kümmert sich das Update vor allem um das Schließen von Sicherheitslücken auf den Apple 802.11n AirPort-Produkten. Die Modelle, die bereits den WLAN-Standard 802.11ac unterstützen erhalten das Update hingegen nicht. Hier läuft auch bereits Version 7.9.1 der Firmware. Die Installation des Updates ist allen Besitzern entsprechender Geräte empfohlen.
