As you are searching for work, first impressions are everything! And the very first impression employers read about you - is a professional cover letter.

Sticking to the duties and responsibilities resume format, will guarantee that your resume is dropped on top of the garbage pile! Hiring decision-makers couldn't care less about what you were supposed to do at former organizations. Rather, they must see the actual contributions you have made.

In today's job market, companies will not pay attention to every one of the four hundred or higher resumes received - for each employment posting! Instead, they'll gladly trash ninety percent of them, if the resume does nothing to seize the reader's attention.

A quarter-century ago, people were lectured that your resume must have a group of bullet-point duties and responsibilities performed during every job we've ever occupied - and the more the better. Not anymore! These days, hiring decision-makers are going to only allow 10 seconds (maybe even less) when glancing through your resume. Don't choose the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume template!

Can you create a general one-size-fits-all resume, that you can use anytime, anywhere, for any job? The Fact: It is a foolish blunder! The key fact: Employers must review as much as four hundred resumes in a single day! Thus they toss out every resume which is not definitely targeted to the position being offered.

Don't lose the job offering by having a general resume! What a general resume does, is show how you look no better than anyone else - not how you stand above your competitors for the same employment.

Should you write a general one-size-fits-all resume, which you can use anytime, anywhere, for any posted job? The Truth: It is a dumb choice! The reality: Employers are required to deal with as many as 400 resumes a day! So they throw out any resume which is not specifically targeted to the work being hired.

Resume statements as for example "team player", are damaging. They appear cliche and fail to position you in a positive way. The same is true of text like "dedicated". The proper terms target what you achieved at your previous employers and how beneficial you could be to this future company.

The lion's share of hiring decision-makers perceive the duties/responsibilities resume template, as boring and inferior. Instead, companies have to read what places you above the other candidates, and tangible instances of achievements you have made at past occupations.

Most employers consider the duties/responsibilities resume template, as antiquated and of no value. Instead, companies need to learn what distinguishes you from other competitors, including tangible instances of contributions you've made for former positions.

Way back in the past, job seekers were taught that our resume has to have a group of point-form duties and responsibilities for every job we've ever occupied - and the bigger the list the better. Not now! Nowdays, organizations can only allow a dozen seconds (maybe even less) when reviewing your resume. Don't follow the duties and responsibilities resume format!

Employing the duties/responsibilities resume approach, will make sure that your resume lines a garbage can! Employers are not interested in what you did at prior employment. In the current job market, they must hear what real achievements you have made.

Most job searchers don't know that 4 out of 5 job offerings (and specifically virtually all of the top jobs), are only posted inside the "hidden" job market. Thus the secret to raising your job results, is to determine the primary reasons the top work are "posted" within this little-known job market, rather than the deplorable paper media or online career market.
