Die Saga rund um die Videoplattform TikTok wird uns vermutlich noch mindestens bis zum 15. September, also dem Tag, ab dem das Verbot für die App in den USA in Kraft tritt, sollte sich bis dahin kein US-Unternehmen finden, welches die Geschäfte übernimmt. In der Pole Position hierfür scheint momentan nach wie vor Microsoft zu sein. Allerdings scheinen auch andere Technolgieunternehmen aus den Staaten Interesse an TikTok zu haben. Unter anderem war anfangs offenbar auch Apple im Gespräch. Auch Google und Facebook wurden genannt. Alle diese Namen haben allerdings recht schnell ihre Fühler wieder eingezogen.

Wie das Wall Street Journal berichtet, soll nun allerdings Twitter vorläufige Gespräche mit TikTok zu einer möglichen Verschmelzung der beiden Dienste gehalten haben. Wie genau diese "Verschmelzung" aussehen könnte, ist allerdings ebenso absolut unklar, wie die Frage danach, wie Twitter den hohen Preis für TikTok stemmen soll. Auf der anderen Seite hat sich Twitter in der Vegrangenheit schon einmal an der Übernahme eines Kurzvideodienstes versucht und in 2012 Vine übernommen. Vier Jahre später hatte man den Dienst dann allerdings komplett eingestampft. Der Ausgang der ganzen Geschichte ist also weiterhin komplett offen.
