Am gestrigen Abend stand in unserem Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Wien das erste Hochsicherheitsspiel dieser EURO auf dem Programm: Kroatien gegen Türkei. Die Birsanz dieses Spiels lässt sich schon daran erkennen, dass dieses Mal satte 420 (statt normalen 200) Sicherheitskräfte am Spielfeld standen. Das Spiel als solches war dann allerdings alles andere als aufregend. Nach 118 Minuten stand es immer noch 0:0. Aber dann überschlugen sich die Ereignisse. Der eingewechselte Ex-Werderander Ivan Klasnic erzielte per Kopf die 1:0 Führung und die damit schon sicher geglaubte Qualifikation zum Halbfinale für Kroatien. Doch weit gefehlt! In der Nachspielzeit der Verlängerung gelang den Türken mir einem Sonntagsschuss in den Winkel tatsächlich noch der Ausgleich.
Das Elfmeterschießen musste also die Entscheidung bringen. Und da kam es, wie es kommen musste: Die Türkei siegte nach 3 verschossenen Elfmetern der Kroaten mit 4:2 und die kroatischen Fans, die das Stadion fest in der Hand hatten mussten enttäuscht nach Hause fahren. Im Halbfinale kommt es somit am kommenden Mittwoch in Basel zum Aufeinandertreffen zwischen Deutschland und der Türkei.
